The Best Time to DrinkYour Protein and Why

The best time to drink your protein shake is within 30-45 minutes after your workout.  During your training session the muscles have been broken down and are in a catabolic state. To ensure the repair and growth of the muscle tissue, you must replenish the muscle cells and glycogen (energy) storages that were utilized during your training session with a fast absorbing easily digestible protein shake. When training early mornings and time is a constraint, having a protein shake 90 minutes before your training session is essential for preparing the muscles for proper breakdown. Carbohydrates and fats should also be included with the protein intake to provide the full spectrum of macronutrients to the body especially after the workout.
